July is National Make a Difference to Children Month. This mid summer month, when most children are not at school, try to create opportunities and/or activities for kids to make a positive difference in their lives.
One way to offer learning opportunities to kids during the long summer vacation is to have them practice simple yoga poses. Children can learn mindfulness through yoga and physical movement, and it is a great way for them to stay calm, focused, and get physical activity at the same time.
For example, parents can sponsor trips of neighborhood kids to a local park and have the kids practice poses that are found at parks such as Dog, Tree, and Slide postures.

Another fun idea is to host a family yoga night and invite parents and their kids to come over and practice yoga together. The ABCs of Yoga for Kids book, guidebook, and flashcards are a great resource for yoga poses and fun yoga activities and games.
Enjoy introducing children to yoga and making a lasting difference in their lives!
